Had a D1 spec catch can filled with steel wool, doesn't work very well...

Good on you for giving it a shot, and learning about how it works.

First update:
The butler down pipe is replaced, old one has its cat blown loose (see photo, edge of the cat is crushed). AFR sensor is moved before cat, and car runs leaner with new cat, maybe old cat caused restriction. Mao is retuning it on Saturday

Secondly, did more research on Subaru's oil vapour system (pic 1). Factory system has head breather connected to inlet, crank breather connects to both inlet (for on boost venting) and PCV (off boost venting), lots of oil vapour can goes to intake system, causing oil consumption. 08 STi is even worse maybe caused by wrong oil phasing on the crakshaft?
AOS/Catch can basically bypass the connections to the inlet, but PCV still sucking oil vapour straight to intake manifold (pic 2). When I took off the throttle, the bottom of manifold, where PCV screwed into, was covered with oil (50ml?) So I remade the catch can to block off PCV, and route crank and cam breather to atmosphere (pic 3).

Here r some photos.
The reason for using two catch can is crank breather blows lot more air, on boost, it may block cam breather. The bracket seems very messy, but they r necessary to hold cans firm to each other and the car. Idle is perfectly fine, rpm is about 80 rpm higher.

Wouldn't it have been easier to copy the Hyperflow four port design? Just a thought, good on you for giving it a go anyway.

You really need to get your facts right about this
Blouch parts do not come from ZAGE, i know where there stuff comes from and its not ZAGE. Billet Wheels are USA made using their own aero... Kinguawa have tried to copy them and still cant get it right Castings are from Mexico Covers are from Mexico and their cores are from either Garrett or MHI Genuine They do get some rear castings (not WRX) from a TW factory but it isnt ZAGE.
