(Please post the pfc model and version - comes up of the commander when you switch the ingition on) What engine do you have? Ej207 base map is unsuitable for a 205.

The power fc is model or serial #GC8F0000-0068. The car is a MY99, build date 9/98, with a 205 in it. I haven't plugged in this computer yet, but the previous one I had, also a GC8F, would show 207 on the commander when first turned on. This is why, I'm thinking, just to get the car to ASG, I'm better off leaving the tune already on it (admittedly, for a different car, with different setup), as opposed to resetting the base map.

I'd drive it to ASG on the factory ecu...Let Sean plug the power fc in and tune it.
That would be far safer than driving it with an unknown tune/ for different mods and risk pinging it.

As far as I'm aware it's only 207, and yes, you change some pins and it'll work for 205. Ross, I don't have a factory ecu, nor a factory afm. I've been running a pfc however a leaking windscreen decided to fry it.

Does the old one still power up?
If so I can pull your map off it and load it to the new power fc. If it's totally dead....Pm me what you want for it.

Update, pulled the board apart, looks a bit sketchy in some places. If I can be assed I'll see if I can steal some labtime at uni to have a bit of fun with it. If not, it's getting a big sadface painted on it, and going in the collection of sacrificial parts to the God of Auto failz.

So I thought I might ask here first, long story short, I've been away for three weeks and left the car basically just armed and locked. About a week after going away the alarm went off and didn't stop being a pain in the ass til the battery went flat (My present to the new neighbours). Anyway, so I put a new battery in, but my question to the Almighty Guru's is whether or not after two weeks without a power source would my PFC have lost it's memory or not. From what I'm aware, it's much like a usb chip, in the sense that it holds data, but whether or not it needs a source to keep that memory I'm not too aware of. Shed some light anyone?
Cheers, Alex. |
