Happy to recommend JWS to anyone..

But it always comes with the following advice..

Know what you need and want or take a sample... And be prepared to haggle..

Yep as has been covered over many times, a wrecker is exactly that. Their business is to dismantle cars and sell as parts. They do this to the best of their ability. As they are dealing with not only subaru, but nissan and mitsubishi parts now should they be expected to know every part of every vehicle prodced by these manufacturers? Big call when they dont have access to a parts database.
I used to deal with JWS quite a bit but this was a few years ago and I mostly dealt with Al.
Never had a prob with his service and the knowledge that he passed to me for free saved me alot of money. I have heard similar stories from friends that have dealt with fats over the years. End of the day, if you dont know from looking at the part you need, how is anyone else going to know?

When is someone gonna jump on their keyboard sword and defend them over this part of the story?

Sure enough people make mistakes, including myself (very rarely, mind you ), and maybe WRX-911 should have dumped the old starter on their bench, but like said its how you deal with it, and thats definately not how you should treat a customer who is going to tell people his experiences..

People remember bad service, not good service sadly.

Who's to say that that is what was actually said? People embellish stories when they are angry...

I doubt anyone here will get the full story. Far as im concerned if i walk into a place that dismantles my type of car and i give them my vin, model, make, year of my car i expect them to get me the right part. Is this too high of an expectation?

Example. As an electrician, a customer asks me to put up a light that they have supplied, i dont put the onus on the customer to tell me what type of cable i should use or which breaker i put it on. You know what has to be used to get the job done correctly and you do it.

Fuck taking a side with anyone and like usual workshop crap ive heard both great and not-so-great stories about them. *shrug* I spose ill make my judgement when i need spare parts

if this has actually happened then I'm with wrx911...seems like @ pwrx you cannot say a bad word about a person/workshop that this website deals with. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if you're not happy with what wrx911 has to say then dont read it. Personally ive never dealt with them but I've dealt with two other places this forum "supports".

1. ASG - very happy
2. Stu @ camerasales - not so happy

And i dont care what others think, this was my experience. Thankfully there is one thing everyone at pwrx agrees on - we all hate abos

nothing wrong with swan, they helped me out heaps on christmas eve a few years ago when i needed a starter motor, i got there at 11am when they closed at 12 with my old starter motor and it took them 2 hours to find a similar model to mine, the guy even called in one of his work colleages from home to help him find me a starter.
