I was going to use an offcut as i will have heaps left to do roof, and wrap the painted part of my side mirror to see how hard it is on a small section first.

Maybe start with smaller area to practice? Spary water under the wrap will help, water is easier to be pushed out than air. DIY is fun, the experience u gain might be useful in the future :-)

I have always buy wrap from this ebay store:

very good quality, close to 3M.

Cheap wrap will fade and harden quickly, and leave glue when u take them off.

Can they be applied wet? Similar to stickers and coating the lid in a soapy liquid and then pushing the moisture out?
