Vinyl wrapping.
Hello i would like to start a discussion on vinyl wrapping. Yes, that is right, vinyl wrap. I know i do not get a say in what goes on my car here, but rage against the machine and what not, im doing it, im stickering my roof.
Basically a quote from somewhere that does it professionally is upwards of the 300dollar mark unless you are servicing the installer in some form, or maybe your just friends with him. All of the above options are not for me, i dont want to pay 300+buks, service a man and i dont have friends. So, i sourced some wrap on Ebay. A sheet big enough too do my roof with a fair bit spare is 70buks. This isnt your cheap crappy stuff, im talking about the 3M 1080 series vinyl. Iv watched afew vids and reckon with abit of patience i can do a very good job of it. I have seem afew cars on here that are wrapped In some sort of way. For those that have done it themselves, what are some tips, techniques you could pass along? I was thinking about doing it half at a time (only removing half the sticky and getting that near right before laying the other side). Also what wrap did ypu use, was it any good? Tony

Best tip I can give you? Pay the $300. If you are lucky, the installer will deduct the cost of vinyl from his bill and charge you labour only.
In all seriousness, it took two professionals a 2-3 hours to do my roof and after having watched them with all their experience and customised tools, its not a job I'd want to attempt. IMO, wrapping a roof is not a one person job, you will struggle solo.....

Quote:
Even being friends with people involved doesnt reduce cost much - you are paying for the labour or two people with the experience and skills to do it correctly. Good luck if you want to do it yourself, be sure to post results!

Is there something wrong with the paint on your roof now? If not I personally wouldnt risk damaging it. Was a cool thing to do 3 years ago. Not now.
