They are both methods of retuning the stock ECU, the major difference is down to the person tuning them, not the actual software. Ecutek has been around for longer and has a name they can charge extra for, Verso is more value for money. Both an ecutek "Stage 3" and a normal verso tune should be a full custom tune for your car, so it boils down to your choice of tuner and how much you want to pay. Should you wish to relocate to another state in the future, obviously "Verso" won't be available, but other forms of tuning are.

Price out of the equation, it comes down to the man runing the dyno, Lane at RaceTorque and Steve at Maximum Motorsport for Ecutek, or Sean at Allstar garage for Verso.

Thats about the best, unbiased definition I can give of the difference. Most people on this forum have a prefered tuner and there are trash talking stories about every workshop (its the nature of the industry) so its up to you now to decide in who's hands you leave your 40k car

Go and ask ECUtek (or any other ECU/flash tuner out there) to tell you all their technical secrets and see what their response is.

The differences are:

(1) The tuner working on your car
(2) The software to tune your car

The biggest thing regardless of what you are doing (Verso, ECUtek, Autronic, Motec, Link, Pectel, Wolf3D etc) is to find a tuner you trust working on your car. The software just allows for more features and tuning options.

Sorry, I'm a little confused as Verso's website shows

Stock MY07Â Limited Edition (Tuned by STI)Â Â (Turbo Back Exhaust, Fujita Intake Kit, Upgraded TMIC)Â

Torque: 405.0 nm @Â 2937 rpm
Power: 250.1 ps @ 4887 rpm

Wouldn't this indicate that it does support the MY07 ?

MY07 Impreza yes.

MY07 Foz/Liberty no. That is still being tested.
