just built an i5 for a friend, with a 4890, dont go for a AMD / Nvidia combo, you honestly couldnt fail more.....Intel / Ati FTW at the moment.
if you want something thats going to last a bit longer buy a 5850 Radeon, and an i5 750.
5850 is THE best price / performance ratio..
i regularly build systems for friends...
these packages seem a little pricey

All the packages I listed are I7 not I5

Package for i5 costs ($750.00) details below...
Intel Core i5-750 (2.66Mhz/8MB)
Asus P7P55M
4GB DDr3 1333Mhz Ram
500G HD
Geforce GTS250 512MB
8 Ch surround sound
8 ports usb controller
All in 1 card reader
22xdvd-r
10/100/1000 lan controller
atx tower case
500 watt PS
Keyboard & mouse

All I want is a computer package that is best in performance for future up coming games for the next 2 years at least... as that will be roughly the time before I upgrade again... If I'm still playing computer games...

system seems ok, if u want it a bit futureproof get a 5850, nvidia sux
5 series radeons are the only cards that will support upcoming dx11, so thatd be my choice, oh and youll need a better power supply.

If you have money to spend, go solid state hdd.

I have a friend who builds my PC's all the time. He's at WA Data in Malaga. I always give him a price i'm willing to spend (give or take) and he supplies something i'm happy with till i feel i want to upgrade.

Most recent upgrades:

Case: Antec Skeleton
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Quad Core 3.4ghz 8mb CACHE
ASUS M4A78T-E AMD 790GX M/board, DDR3
KINGSTON Hyper-X 4GB Kit DDR3 1600MHz x2 - Total 8GB
CORSAIR TX-750 950W ATX Power Supply, 140mm fan
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition
Im running an nVidia 8800gts card, i would have gone solid state hdd but i cbf and just needed space so i went with a 880gb hdd.

I think they were(or still may be?) selling 24" Samsung lcd monitors for ~300-400 or so.
I regret getting mine - bought it from the good guys literally a week before i was told i coulda got 24" - i ended up getting 20.5" for $300

here's a pic of my beast

I'm possibly buying new geek bits today for an upgrade/rebuild over the weekend. Going from Core2Duo 3.0ghz, to:

i5 750
ASUS P7P55D (or higher) mobo
4 or 8 Gb Kingston HyperX RAM
G.Skill 64 Gb SSD

or

i7 920
ASUS P6T
6 Gb RAM
G.Skill 64 Gb SSD

I've got a Noctua fan that will see both of these chips easily clocked to 4.0ghz. Mostly for heavy Photoshop work and some basic video editing.
