In Albany the "Pits" is one of the local mechanics. Makes things a bit easier.

I doubt it is really that bad... Its not the MYER post christmas sale, there wouldnt be tens of thousands of people lining up to go to the pits every morning. Altho, it is possible you would have to take a full day off to go over, if you get over in 1 go, then good on you. When I went to the pits about 2 and half 3 years ago, I was in line for 4hrs waiting, so i would only think the situation has become worse than that, so its highly possible ppl are gettin there hours before they open to be first in the que.

WRX's over east are SO much cheaper atm than here, trust me, I have been looking. 05 wrx with 25000 kms on it for around $30k. Altho, things like 02sti's etc are still also fetching similar prices to here, low - mid 30's. But there is a vast variety of WRX's over there and so many to choose from.

Yeah I've been there PLENTY of times but none lately, last time I was there I had to wait about 3 hrs for the inspector to do "paperwork". Fuckhead still failed me, its a fucking painful exercise.

Got my dad to take my Fairlane to the pits twice. After waiting an hour both times, with NONE of the lines moving more than about 1-2 cars in that hour (and he was about 5th or 6th in line each time he went), he gave up because he couldnt afford to take any more time off work, especially not the projected 3 odd hours it would have taken from that spot in the line.

So, I got Amanda to take it to O'Connor on her holidays. She got there at 7am and waited 5 hours in line to get the LPG tank checked. She was 15th in line, and apparently there was a f*ckload of people after her too...so I cant imagine how long they waited for! The line went quicker when there was more than one inspector on, but apparently most of the time, only one guy was doing it. A fucking joke if you ask me.

i bought my STi ver6 in qld, fly over basically paid for it and get the dude 2 fill out the transfer form but dont hand it in, de-reg it...put it on a truck(autotrans was the cheapest when i rang around, $1100 all up - 2-3weeks) pits it over here, rego it again. when my baby got here took me 1day 2 get everything done, but u would have 2 go 2 the pits real early(7:30am xpect 2-3hrs wait).

basically wat the chick told me @ the licensing centre over here, u cant transfer a car over there. so follow tat then u should be spot on.

btw midland pits is ur best bet. and yes pits is like a christmas sales but only is on everyday of the year.

I heard all about how bad the pits were etc etc so took mine down there 30mins before it opened 7.00am there was one car there. By the time I left there were no more than 4 cars there. This was at Warwick, so not sure if this is some urban myth? Anyway best thing to do is phone up the licensing centre & they can advise you.

Thats crazy! I guess I just fluked it. The girl at the licensing centre told me why they were having huge queues, I can't quite remember the reason, but it was something to do with the laws changing regarding registering a car. In other words more people have to take their cars over the pits than before, but not sure why that is.
