The WRC cars still have a functional scoop as this is where the air filter sits. So mustnt be much of a problem imo..

Tyre choice im still undecided- im was initally going to go with 15s and use seans drag tyres. But it will mean i have to change front and rear brakes/ discs to 98 wrx which ive got from ramon to borrow. Rear brakes will need some modding to fit though which is a pain in the arse..

So i might just stick with sti 17s with appropriate rubber..

I suppose i have to get the engine sorted out first before making all these plans.. haha

hey tino,

I have some "gravel spec" rear brakes which will fit your rear hubs and allow some 15" rims to fit, you would just need some wrx 4 spots/discs for the front and some "high clearance" 15" rally rims.

If you can get hold of some, rims and front brakes, I'll either sell or loan you the rears.

Cool that would be great I got ramons brakes and discs and will use seans 15s wrx rims. I will only need em for the one day or so so if I could borrow them that would be great.

Also, if you think about it.. the hot air from the cooler is going to be drawn out of the vent via the air rushing over it, and then sucked straight back into the scoop.
Nope it's stayin as it is for now.

The WRC car ran the exact same setup with the scoop being used to feed the airfilter.

The air rushing over the vent will dramatically cool that hit air. So the air entering the scoop would be the same temp or difference neglible once it enters the scoop.

Well its nearly game set and match... But were in the tie breaker..

Blown head gasket has done some serious damage to only one bore. One scortched the fk out of the head. Two peeled back the bore liner like a coke can... wtf

My only saving grace is that both of these may be repairable. Going to the machinest shop to see if can be done. I wish i had closed decked it now, it apparently cant be done now. However Im hoping that those galleries can be filled or the liner welded or maybe put dowels to add some more support.

Would o-ringing the block and head stop the headgasket from blowing out?? Or could nothing really have stopped this?? Better studs preventing the separation of block and head?

Apart from those two points of damage everything else is in perfect working order. No sign of piston scoring on the bores. The sleeves have done there job and have not moved at all. So im crossing the fingers this is a cheap road to victory...
