This theory only works to a certain limit though
o ur saying its better to launch at higher revs? ive never launched my 5speed, imo just dont launch it ever that way it will/should last right? i am scared of breaking it if i launch it.

Like I said, 1st gear failures from launches arnt that common. More likely to smash 2/3 while shifting hard through the gears.

I find it funny when i go to WAW and see people too shit scared to launch (or just dont know how to drive properly). For instance, was there a couple of weeks ago, and there was a black peanut STI struggling to do better than 15 second passes.....

I definitely fall into the category of not knowing how to drive my car properly, but in the same regards its funny how overly cautious you become when you've spent multiple thousands of dollars on top of your original purchase price 'when its not planned'.

this!

Limiter and dump the clutch should see some wheelspin and some sort of relief for your driveline, just watch the change to 2nd, that is the box killer. 6 speeds are pretty cheap these days and a proven near indestructible box. Drive it like you stole it, break stuff and upgrade

I found not using the clutch the best for hard shifting

^ haha Kato.
Yep, +1 on the 'first gear ok, watch for second though'. Years of 'yoinkpopping' in first gear at motorkhanas and what actually does in the gearbox? Hillclimb, smashing 2nd (when ur in competition, play hard or don't play I say).

Good luck with getting a good deal on a box. Hope it works out

are you interested in a DCCD 4.444 box that i'm currently running in my foz? I'm looking at upgrading to a 6 speed in a few months, dccd locks up nice & tight & I may include the manual foxey spec controller with it also also have a 2 way plated sti 4.444 rear diff and matching rear driveshafts to suit if i can't change the crown wheel and pinion to 3.9 to suit new 6 speed
