But I swayed towards the 05 in the end.
Aside from the classics, in my mind they're the best looking sti. (Plus you get the best engine+driveline+brakes combo)

While I understand peoples love for 05 STI with 195kw engine why pay 35g when you can get 06 STI with 206kw. is it better who knows we could be here all day discussing it all day, sure 05 STI forged pistons etc. But really who cares unless your going turn it into a monstar and even then it will all be replaced anyway. Why pay 45g for new MY11 when you can get a 08 STI with more power and better package ? obviously its the looks that is not everyones taste. and the wide body just looks fantastic.

Is that with the caliper flexing gold shitbox brembos?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing no limits with WRX 4 pots with good pads rotors and fluid.

I'd get the newest model MY11, followed by a Evo 9, MY05STi.

Whilst I am biased towards the 05STi, they're now 6+ years old and getting older...

Also, the Betty STi is waaaaayyyy better than the 05 - you just need to budget for a new motor at some stage.

The pistons aren't the only issue and not actually the major problem with the 2.5's.
Discussion has been done to death elsewhere.

considering I love my car and the bits that I would change on it are a 6 speed and 207 motor, I will go against the trend and say the 02 sti.

I was going to suggest Sammy's 02 (sure its got some kms, but is looked after), but if you can find a better one (aka darkmoose) then go for that.

My personal taste though and the least expensive option too=more money to enhance.

BUT

if you got the newest car, you would be getting a more refined car to start with,

Good luck with a purchase Kym.

For me it would be a bit bias and chosen the 05 STI and if I had to choose all over again still the 05 STI or Evo 9 
They have heaps of room in the boot and back seats in all 3 cars, Haven’t driven the MY11 but I’m sure it goes harder than any other WRX out at the moment and somewhat close the gap between WRX & STI.
In regards to the 207 v 205/255 v 257 been done to death on other said threads, the 2.5L really go well with “MILD” mods to really open it up.
At the end of the day it’s what YOU want out of the car, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
