05 would be the best pick, best of everything, best for a bit of fun.

10/11 would be the best car if you want it for the long term.

Think of the children man! MY10/11 is an awesome all-rounder. As you said, couple of decent mods = smiles on your dial without too much compromise as a daily which is why it gets my vote.

Or you can listen to that little voice inside your head and get the 05, mild mods and scare the hell out of the kids and the missus

Well Considering i just bought an 02..... I went the 05.

i think if you intend on playing & playing with force - an sti will be all you ever need.

BUTTT!!!!! )|(

The My 11's are shear p0rn. The Widebody is awesome, they go hard.

Either will bring that giddy smile back to your face oh and the missus too!

I personally would wait to see what subaru pulls out of the hat next year in regards to new models. Thats if there is any substance to it.

While I don't have a subaru yet this will be my last one before I settle to a more practical car.

I see there is not 06-08 choice there ? don't fancy the shape ?
if your going to track it lightly STI all the way and out of your 3 choices 05 STI but for the same price you can get a 06 that is better in every way more power.

Personally I love a car with a sunroof and 2010-2011 would be hard to pass. Hard call but I think best of both world would be a 2010-2011. But to get full fun factor from track days STI its built and designed for it.

05 just for the simple fact it's an STi and you get Brembo's 6spd, DCCD and reliable 207 plus other goodies, another reason is resale value because for a 6 year old car they still hold there value well instead of the general WRX where values drop quite fast since 2008 compared to previous models.

That's IMO anyway because I bought 2 new 07 WRX's over a used 05/06 STi for the new car thing and warranty etc but regretted it only a few months later as I wanted the Brembo's, interior, DCCD, 6spd, more power and was going to spend a fortune to get all those things for the WRX to which I'd never see again if I was to sell it later on.

As you know very well once the mod bug bites it bites hard and once you've got ideas in your head it's hard to let them go so I sold the WRX and put less than half the moneyit would have cost me putting those things onto the WRX into buying an STi instead.

Voted 05 sti. Carries that classic rally subaru appearance that will always look awesome. The new models look too modern and in turn lose so much of that 'rally turbo' feel and appeal for the reasons I wanted a wrx in the first place. Also the new ones look similar to Hyndai elantras from the rear. That, and itll be more fun to drive an sti. Plus retained value is a bonus.

This is coming from a 21 year old though. So these opinions may not apply if you aren't looking for the same things in a car.
