my kids always have & prolly always will prefer to go in 'daddys car' they love the harshness & noise, twinscroll rumble does wonders in sending them to sleep on extended trips

Enough off topic for me :P
Personally if I was in your situation I would be looking at the Forrester as a potential car. Height, safety and a decent amount of easily accessible and usable space is a clear winner. Once the bub is a bit older, you can throw some gear into the Forrester to get a more sporty/responsive drive ...and do some track days!

I have a modified my10 hatch and a 6 month old baby. My partner loves the car, my daughter sleeps perfectly everytime we go anywhere, and we have been away with a car full of gear with no problems whatsoever.
The main issue with the hatches is that the child anchor points are positioned in a way that restricts rear storage. However, we have a very good large pram and it still all works fine. Lib wagon or Foz will be better for practicality/insurance etc, but it depends on how important performance is to you. I looked at changing to one of those two options after our bub was born and it was simply not cost effective in terms of performance as we had an insurance win with our car. Mind you, it doesn't get driven in anger when baby is in the car, so if I didn't already have the car when the bub was born I might not have cared as much about performance.

Wife has 08 Lib GT STI and I have had an 08 STI Hatch and 04 sedan.
The hatch will take a lot more than any of the others as Mike 09 said. As an aside, we put my two year old Nephew in either the MY 10 Lib GT or the 08 Lib when we have him - he gets a lot more leg room and there is a lot more space in my MY10. If you want bulk space Foz in the go.

The mrs already has a nice new Holden cruze which will be her run around. I want to get into a performance car though but still be able to take the family out in it on the weekend if I need to.
Really like runforest but think an 01 might be a bit old. |

I think a WRX can be a great family car. Has 4 doors, boot space is alright and its a well made car. If you dont mod it up heaps and keep it pretty stock, it should be a nice and smooth ride :P
