Default Warranty or cheaper servicing?

So, the situation is that I have a 6 year old WRX which was purchased from a good subaru dealership along with an AHG premium warranty which seems to cover just about everything possible against failure.

The downside is that servicing has to be done every 6 months (I work FIFO so hardly drive it in that time!) to keep the warranty valid, and it is starting to get expensive.

Is it worth ditching the warranty in favour of a cheaper service at a Subaru Specialist (eg STechnik)?

If you work FIFO, I find it very hard to believe you can't afford a service every 6 months.

There's also a lot of people who will tell you that your warranty is still valid if serviced by a qualified mechanic which all in the workshop thread are.

It's an AHG warranty, and I'm 95% sure that the paperwork states that it must be serviced by an AHG service centre.

Irrespective of my work, it feels pointless throwing that much money at the car so often.

Yeah AHG's warranty means your car must be serviced by an AHG dealer.... I work for AHG and would personally take it to STechnic or someone similar....

I don't think the premium ahg warranty covers much esp being a 4wd car so I wouldn't worry too much about that. If you had the allianz warranty from ahg which you had to pay extra, you should be able to go with any qualified mechanic that service with genuine Subaru parts and done according to the log book.

I thought the service intervals were based on kilometers, how can they void a warranty or make you undertake a service if the wear and tear doesn't exist?

service intervals are via kilometres or time, whichever comes first.

I think I just did my 100k service while only on about 50k kms.

I think its based on either months interval or km interval which ever comes first.

Surely they cant legal enforce you to undertake a service if its not needed though?

I've never bought a new car/car from a dealership but I still cant see how that's legal.

more of a policy to keep warranty, rather than being an illegal thing.
