Default Noob question.

Hey guys,

I'm currently looking at a peanut WRX (MY03) just wondering if the Subaru's have a similar thing to the Holden's and Ford's as in do they have different series within that model, I know that the '03 models span from 2003-2005, so just wondering in that time period is there anything that is upgraded within that same model? Like how you get a VY commodore and a VY series II, the series II has some flaws fixed (usually mechanical issues) and say like better brakes etc.

This has probably been covered within these forums somewhere I will try and find something about it but in the meantime some feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Your friendly WRX noob.

The peanut shape runs from 2003 -2005.

MY03/ MY04 models had the older style interior carried over from the beautiful bugeyes.

MY05 had the revised interior (same as MY06/ MY07).

Thank you for clearing that up, Shame, my favourite model is the 06/07 "Hawk eyes/pignose" or whatever you would like to call it.

Nope only difference is between the sti, club spec and wrp10
Sti is self explanatory, bigger turbo and intercooler, different interior, brembos, gold wheels and a few other little things
Club spec normally has leather and sun roof
Wrp10 has special wrp10 wheels, side canards on the side skirts and a sun roof I'm pretty sure. I think there are a few more things thy I can't think of right now ha ha

HAHAHA I still love the SS, I don't want to get rid of it, but I've also always wanted a WRX... So the time has come to make a decision.

in terms of acceleration, i'm not sure an 03' WRX will be an improvement at all over the SS... If you're after that, would without doubt go for an STi of that model or modern WRX. If not, at least you'll have better handling

In addition to above, the other differences I found in the peanuts: 04+ has horizontal bar for sliding seat back/forward (as opposed to a handle), and body coloured skirts, 05 gets red calipers. The "older" dash has an additional storage space at the bottom of the console which is handy for phone etc.

Oh really? I would have though that they'd be a bit quicker being lighter and what not, that's a bit disappointing to hear. I wouldn't want to downgrade to a slower car, not that speed is everything, but I do enjoy having that power there if needed for overtaking and what not. hmm

An 03 wrx will very easily out accelerate out brake and out turn an ss commodore.Having driven both, a commodore has effortless power were as a wrx has phenomenal acceleration and the power doesn't drop off. If you get tired of the standard power level go see mms or all star, get a verso intake and a tune for a little extra not to mention sway bars anti lift kit and cpilovers for handling
