What can I say but my experience has been the complete opposite.

Maybe its because they didn't fall over when I handed them 5 pages of modifications

sorry guys, I dont actually do insurance from the forums anymore as Im on here for personal use not business. Plus I work inbound on the calls and often hard to take time away from that to do quotes etc from the forums.

if you need to contact Perth try in the afternoons as its usually just perth on.

more than welcome to ask for myself in the Perth branch when dialing in tho

I'm going to post up something positive here about SGIO. I pranged my car last night at the underground carpark in Cottesloe (Backed into a pole) and managed to do around $1600.00 worth of damage to my right rear guard/bumper.

Called SGIO this morning, got straight through and lodged a claim. The lady was super friendly and chatty on the phone, and when she realised it was a new car she was really sympathetic. She advised a rental car was on standby for when I needed it (free for 14 days) and they would pay for my taxi once I dropped the car off for repair. Within two minutes I have an appointment with the assessor just down the road at 2:30pm today booked so nice and easy. They'll be calling me back with a day/time but said it should only be off the road a max of 5 days (more like 3).. and I didn't lose my no-claims bonus. Very happy overall considering how gutted I was about everything.

I forgot to mention I pay around $200.00/Month for full comprehensive.. insured value $70,000.00
TROLLEY, Soksta and steve-lang like this.

So hows this right...just got my renewal from SGIO in the mail today. Last year they beat RAC's quote to give me my insurance for around $1104pa. 05 STI (Agreed value of $32K)..

Now they want $1,901.23pa, had a look and their previous 10% offer expired on the 10th of Nov (Sat just gone) and their new 10% offer is for beating competitor "renewals" ...not quotes. Just did an online quote for RAC with better options and cheaper excess and it was just shy of $1200. I will be ringing up SGIO later to see if they will beat it still anyway, otherwise I shall be taking up a policy with RAC.

I will be leaving my other car and contents insurance with SGIO for now...but may tell them I will take them elsewhere as well when I speak to them on the phone and see if they will call my bluff :P

^Try AAMI as well, their quotes are usually pretty good.

Will check them out, but if I took up a policy with them it would kill me inside knowing that I would be helping fund their terrible "Rhonda" ads....

Ok, rang SGIO and they beat RAC's price by 10%, although its the old offer they have a 30 day grace period which ends on the 10th of Dec, so if your insruance renewal is due before then or within a month of it and you get the notice from SGIO, get onto it now!

Anyway, heres the details:

Age: 26
Insurer: SGIO
Car: MY05 WRX STI
Agreed Value: $32,000
Cost: $1049 p/a, $550 excess

Age: 19
Insurer: SGIO
Car: 2012 MY13 Mazda MPS 3
Agreed Value: $42,000
Cost: $2050 p/a, $550 excess (plus $650 age excess)

It's a lot, but I guess to have a nice car you have to pay the price

Not to mention its only $400 more then my 2004 WRX, and the MPS is about double the value...
