Surely the registration details would bring up the previous insurance policies on the car. Same would go for owner details I would think.

Can someone confirm, noob question I know...but I've never changed insurance company before....if you have the maximum No Claim bonus (plus paying for the protection) does that transfer to a new insurer, or when you change insurer your no claim bonus starts from zero again?

I assume you lose it, but thought I would ask...

I'd say it would carry over but they may ask you to prove the NCB that you're currently receiving.

Most companies ask about previous insurance policies including what no claim bonus you are currently getting and will offer the same if you want it. Well they have in my experience anyway.

Just received a letter from SGIO saying that they are implementing a new loyalty discount bonus, so as I've been with them for 3 years and have 2 policies I would receive 7.5% discount. I thought this was great until I actually saw the new premium they were asking. $2138...... They want $60 a month more then what I am currently paying. How the hell is that a discount.

Time for a new insurer I think.

After doing a few online quotes I got on the phone with RAC to get a quote for my car with modifications. After being on hold for a little bit while she confirmed my details, the lady starts out "Now since you're 29 and you're insuring you're car for $49000, and because it is a modified turbo..." at this point I was thinking here it comes $2k +. "you're premium will be $1101."

So SGIO can eat a bag of dicks and keep their Loyalty discount.
