Yeah, I'm like Franz too. Any time you see my car off the road, I did it on purpose.

i looked at retro fitting it into my x rs and tmr say it is a $15k exercise to get the factory unit out of a gsr to work or $30k for a bosch motorsport unit.

Funnily enough i did not retro fit it. However i do think one of the places i am falling down in is late braking. Would be great to get a car to hold together for long enough so i could go and do some testing....

Congratulations to Jamie, Franz, Stewy unlucky Chris. Also Brendan, looks like evo10 is the new GC8 when it comes to gearboxes. A good event well run as usual.

If any one has any interest in doing targa west it is great fun punting your car down a road as fast as you can. It doesn't matter how you compare to others, you are only racing yourself. I was surprised to finish 7th, there is still mileage in the old girl.

Well done boys.

Fingers crossed I will see you next year.

Good job everyone, especially me.

Interesting argument. I came up to the FF at 40km/hr and said "someone is definitely coming off here" and sure enough, they did. It was easy to see that was going to happen.

Ironically all 3 are good friends.
That would only be ironic if they were members of the "save the trees next to rally stages society". I think you meant "coincidence"

Only on the second run, keep them on their toes!

Any time you see my car go backwards through a $400 fence, yeah, um.... I did that on purpose too.......

I'm not convinced ABS will help you brake any later, I'm still not 100% convinced it's better than no ABS but I'm starting to think it is. Not by much though, certainly not $10,000 worth of better.

I don't reckon Abs helps with the late braking much either. It almost made me crash on a very bumpy braking zone in the dry where I got a big abs "shock" and it kicked in, stretching my braking distance quite a bit. But maybe it also saved a flat spotted tyre..... Generally, especially on the wet, I think it's good for confidence, but pad selection seems to be important. I find too much initial bite unhelpful. More progressive pads seems to work better.

ABS won't help you brake later, it will however lessen the chances of locking a tyre and flat spotting a tyre when driving on inconsistent surfaces and should it all go to hell, still enable you to turn somewhat hopefully enabling you to avoid hitting what you'd otherwise go skidding towards (if you're not switched on enough to unlock those skidding tyres).

I know Evo 7-9's are notorious for getting light in the rear under brakes and lock rears easily when there is no abs.

Just another query to Beerens: are you using the standard rear calipers?
