Agree on the confidence thing Blaise...I think it's a big factor....I know that having the lock up thing in the back of one's mind seems to unconsciously make you brake a bit earlier/more progressively.
I think my next thing will be to experiment with pads...am using the Pagid RS 4-2 (which Brendon supplied with the car) atm...always used them in the past with the old GC8's, but of course they had ABS.
Any pad ideas? Ultimates? DS2500? Mu's?

Steve: I'd suggest trying the Pagid RS19 if they make them for your calipers. They are one of the most popular choices for Porsche GT3 racers as they are very progressive and give very good feel. They work well from cold and work even when hot. I have used them in my Evo, Danny's Evo and also ran them in the X on the weekend with no complaints.

Steve, i have always been a massive fan of the pagids but dave @ race torque reckons once they have worn a fair bit they are no good.

He put endless (pc35's) in the x this time around. I too want to experiment with different pads but the endless seem pretty good.

Yeah, I've actually got RS19's on the '06 STI and am a big fan of them.
RS4-2's were the pad of choice for the gravel rally guys in GC8's since they come on song quickly.
Dean used RS19/29 on his tarmac car, but they've recently gone to Project Mu's...they tried Endless (not sure which one) but they weren't that good.
So may research P Mu's....Goccy uses Ultimtes I think...he's offered a set to try so I may take him up.

But saying thatI have improved the lock up thing with bias adjustment and also since we freed up the front diff...

Personally, agree with Franz. Am a big fan of the RS19's (29's) for tarmac rally. Are my pad of choice. Although on the EMO I used to run 14's (black) in the rears to balance the braking a little better given I had the alcon 6 pots on the front.

One I would stay away from are the Ferodo DS3000 pads. Used to be a fan for track stuff and in the dry, but the initial bite is too severe for tarmac rally in my opinion and tends to upset the ABS, especially in the wet.

Have heard positive things about the endless and project mu.

I tried the Project Mu, did not like at all. No feel at the start, squeeze that lil bit harder and they go straight to abs; very little feel IMO.

With the booster connected they may have felt that way. Without vacuum assist I reckon they feel good. I like to left foot brake so it's unnerving using a boosted system, you never know if you have vacuum or pressure inside the booster.
