LOL
Yeah give it a shot and let us know how it turns out. When it stopped doing it, i had a big smile on my face for hours. Ohh the simple things in life *cough*. Thanks to WhiteRX for his help and solution. Much appreciated!

i have a similar problem to this,i have a 99 rex and the CEL comes up occasionly and only when going up hills, rms has told me the oxygen sensor on exhaust is fuked and is whats causing this, would it be worth forking out the few hundred to replace it or should i just pull it out all together? i also get the jumpy starts on a cold engine. and ebay has shown no sensors for cars before 2003 =(

My 99 WRX does the exact same thing when cruising up a hill but clears the cel light after stopping and starting the car!

This thread is 3 years old.
Perhaps try starting a new one. List what mods you have before you ask a question.

The plug at the end is slightly different to mine and doesn't fit. It has a larger single blade section in the center of the plug, where as the has 2 equal sized blades. Ended up having to swap the plugs over to get it sorted. But touch wood, It might have just solve a small surging issue under light throttle. Moral of the story the part number above was not a direct fit on my '99 MY00 WRX.

yeah i had to do this for my forester, i thought the foz had a different plug to the wrx as that part number is directly from bosch catalogue, i ended up poping the pins out of the plug with a tiny screwdriver & popped them into my old plug, sorry for the misinformation mate, but glad you saved over genuine subaru for the same sensor

A dead O2 won't throw a code on a 99 gc8 (unless it is unplugged), unlike the GD onwards cars, it's only there to trim the cruise afr's and not check the cat. efficiency.
If it's dead your economy suffers & nothing else.
