$5400 USD, which would probably be about 6.5-7k by the time you get it here, for a brand new EJ25 block, crank, pistons, rods and bearings.

Might be a bit cheaper to get it done local by someone like ASG (especially considering they are the Cosworth distributor for Australia).

Depends whether you want to pay the bit extra to have it assembled by Cosworth as opposed to ASG.

Personally, I reckon its much of a muchness, so I'd get it done here...and at least you know its not going to be possibly damaged in transit, plus you'd save a bit of kesh

ramon, yeh using AVCS and 2.0ltr heads... i think with the porting and 1mm oversize valves there shouldnt be much of a restriction...

luca, that short block would be ideal if it had sleeves.. That imo and others is the weakest link of the block they have thin liners that are prone to ovailing at high boost i.e more than 20psi....

add another 500-1000 for delivery plus taxes getting close to 8gs with no sleeves...

Will cost you approx the same to get it done here I reckon, by the time you source brand new block and crank.

yes will cost around the same, plus u can use ur own crank and block... save some money that way...

Hrmm yeah is the way to go by the looks. Did some imports from the US recently - Cost about $4k just to get a 20ft container in.

Might give ASG a call to get the ball rolling.

Another question for the gurus... Help me out here ..

What benefits/if any are to be had from upgrading crank? What's wrong with stock EJ257 crank? Tino, is yours still running stock?

As above, for heads/cams also?

An upgraded crank is of course, stronger, lighter and oils better at high rpm due to a modified oil delivery system (normally cross drilling). Also, its awesome to tell your mates you have a billet crankshaft

Are you chasing 400 at the wheels, or 600 at the wheels?

luca, im just running a stock crank that will prolly just be machined up...

There is no need to run a billet crank imo.. if u have an upgraded oil pump or put extra shims in the pump to increase the pressure then u should be fine..

A billet crank as joe has pointed out is all of those things however i think that its only important if spinning the engine 8500+rpm. If u wanted to go that high then u would need alot more things done anyway...

In saying that there are U.S made billet cranks going for around 1200 USD...

As for the heads, it all depends where u want to make power. The standard heads and cams will drop off the power band around 6-6500rpm. If ur going with a big turbo like a 35R then u should think about doing cams which will keep the power band increasing to around 7500rpm...

Heads should be ported at the minimum with single retainers and springs. Cams should also be changed imo...

People have also said that using 1mm oversize valves also helps to increase air flow, but thats not a necessitiy imo (something that im contemplating atm).

Remember this is only my opinion take with a grain of salt.. hahahahah

Lol I like my food salty. Thanks guys.

Crank is definately out. Still a bit iffy on heads and cams. Trying to achieve as much as I can with minimal effort atm. Power will definately be sub 500.

Looks like lubrication needs to be addressed.

remember if u want to do heads and cams u will need to pull the motor out, thats an extra 1k right there..

i think oil lubrication is only needed at high rpms, if at all... but putting in more shims to ur standard pump is cheap insurance.. im not getting a upgraded oil pump at this stage...
