And we have come full circle. I want a 207. Next part of the shopping list;
Supporting parts: - Turbo (quick spooler, nice power at around 1.4bar yadda yadda) - Injectors(apparently MY99 WRX ones are fine) - Fuel pump (will just replace the bosch) ?? |

Any ideas on what type of Manifold you plan to run?
Or you going to stick with the V5/6 STi manifold as mentioned earlier ? |

Well I was told that it was exactly the same as the WRX one of the same year.
So keeping mine. *In deciding to keep my heads etc, and therefore not go AVCS, therefore not go MOTEC, therefore keeping the autronic and needing the same sensor ports (same manifold) |

Still going to keep your 5 speed box ?
If you can bend the budget a little i'd try maybe go with a 6 speed for extra smiles |

I'm hoping to, yet to price one up tho. Mine will cope (So i'm told) with the 200kw target but i would prefer the 6speed (for fun just as much as them being tough ass boxes)

aps dr750 twin scroll sard 1000cc bosch 044 x 6 otherwise, as mentioned by big pete, and i totally agree, what's wrong with the 205 with a set of forged pistons? doesn't sound like the supporting mods you have in mind will come close to even testing that package. spend the difference to the new motor on getting the other mods working better. 8-10k is a whole lot of money, u don't wanna blow 2/3's of it just in the motor alone by leaving the rest of the build lacking. |

WRXRW by what i said i didnt mean anything was 'wrong' with the 5 speed box...
If he decides to go the 207 route i was suggesting 6 speed for extra smiles and strength to back the 207. |

I thought you wanted to spend 8-10K just on rebuilding the engine.....
ok, well if your "total" budget is 8-10K you are going to need to watch your pennies. for a start, forget the 6 speed...from the 10K allow 2 to 3K for your suspension mods you mentioned you were keen on, might be able to upgrade your brakes as well, all for 3K... you already have an autronic and a VF28/29....and regards fueling, sounds like you just need some 550cc's...allow 500 here, might as well throw in a fuel pump unless your "sure" you have a newish 910 or 044 was it? Maybe look at a VF43 or VF35..they are a good value upgrade, allow 800.. So, from our, say 10K, we have spent 3000+500+800=$4300.... Do you want a FMIC? (might as well!) deduct 1500 so spent 4300 + 1500=$5800... OK. Left over we have $4200. From this we need to allow for purchase/rebuild, fitting and tuning of the motor... as well as fitting of your suspension/braking components... allow a further 500 there... tuning, allow 500? (at least) So, from the $10,000 we have 3200 to spend on a motor. (purchase and assembly) Not much! OK, forget the FMIC, now we have $4700. A 207 short block is 3500? Then you need pistons, rods, rings? Gaskets, bearings maybe? I guess what I'm trying to show is that it all costs. The rebuilt 205 might be a good option for what you want. Or you simply have to save up another 3-5K to do it right with a sweet 207 or 257... I'm not having a go, It's just that alot of us have been there and its amazing how the little bits add up. But its fun
