issues without stroking ? i thought these motors where fairly strong...... ?

Would the 2.5L 257 Motor, with the head work, bottom end work, cams, exhaust, fuel pump, injectors and tune be fairly bullet proof at 450hp ? im more worried about reliability then expense as id rather pay more now and it be reliable then less now and it breaking down and costing a fortune later.....

Anyone got any idea how much this cost me ?

Lol a built motor isn't a cheap exercise.

It needs to be stripped and refreshed every X kilometers, not to mention the headaches and associated expenses with things breaking, needing replacement, etc etc.

It's been said here before: You play, you pay.

No engine is bullet proof mate. A closed deck 257 will be strong but not unbreakable especially at 450hp. You would need to run a min of 1.8 bar to achieve this correct me if I am wrong.

I would expect much change from 30/35k to do it properly and to run the setup that will acheive 450hp. You don't need 450hp in a Subaru it's serious overkill. How did you come to the figure of 450hp?

Dude, go for a drive in an Sti with 200kws at the hubs and then tell me how much more grunt you need, there ain't too many things that will beat this combo and its not a huge outlay of dough to get there (3K max) and a pretty reliable setup. If its not enough, be prepared for big dollars let alone the grief with these sorts of things, just gotta ask a couple of guys on here with big horsepower how many Panadol Forte they have had getting things right and how their bank account is fairing...
My cent

put it this way.... the more power you make the greater the probability of something failing.... (to a certain extent)

Regarless of motor, what car will this be going into (WRX or STi)? There is more to a Subaru than just engine.

For the amount of work you are talking about, I would suggest budgeting a lot of bucks. You play, you pay.

Totally agree. If you are going to build a motor you need to build the car around the motor as well.

If your nice to a few people on the forums get some seat times in some cars pushing between 300 - 350HP, Then if you think you still need more. Start saving some serious cash.
