I bought KU31's for the XR from Tempe over east and they were $210 landed for 245/35 19's, so maybe try them as 17's should be far cheaper.

I personally found the KU31's pretty crap on my car, they only last about 18,000kms! But the torque of the XRT's combined with fairly skinny 245 tyres doesnt mix, best I've had for grip, noise and life have been Dunlop Sport Maxx TT's, expensive but great tyres.
