I did a bit of research on them before I got my KU36's and the general
consensus was they are very similar to Falken RT615's and around the same price too but have slightly less grip then the 615's. Hoped that bit of info hepls.

I'm currently running these on my STI. Good grip & relatively quiet. Keep in mind I've only used them on the street for about 3000k's & have not tracked the car as yet.

Cheap Bridgstone RE050a
Anyone chasing 215/45 18" Bridgestone RE050a should look here http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BRIDGESTONE-T...item27b3cc64cb. $275 a tyre is a brilliant price.
It all comes from this thread http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9444 and the sale also include Liberty struts, rims, etc. Supposedly off cars from the US "upgraded".

Kuhmo KU-36 235/40/18
Fitted approx 2 months ago. $914 all up from Bob Jane in Mt Lawley. 3000kms done on them so far. Refuse to let go in the dry. Quiet country roundabouts have become my new best friends....small roundabouts in particular Little bit understeery in the wet but then you'd expect that from a tyre like this (still decent amount of grip avaliable in the wet). For the price, no complaints from this end considering suspension wise my car is very basic (springs + strut braces). Will post an update soon after the 1st Oct track-day (car will have some new whiteline goodies and a proper alignment from Wheels World so will try my best to find the limit without finding the crash barrier )

I almost chose the KU36's. I ordered the Falken RT615's instead - Haven't got them on yet, but they look the goods. I have 'Firenza ST08's at the moment, not sure how they will compare, but suspect the 615's will be better.

My KU36's have been on for 3mths and appx 3,000kms aswell and I'm
extremely happy with them, the wear is awesome and the grip is too! When I first got my car and the Pirelli P-Zero Corsa's were still newish I used to get very tail happy on fast corners but with these 36's it has improved the stability greatly and more wet weather grip/stopping ability! I recommend these to anyone thinkng of getting some new street tyres.

For anyone interested in Bridgestones.
I got quoted $249 each for Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001 215/45R17. Bridgestone Ellenbrooke are running a special on them for that price. |
