2.5 only if u sleeve it. 207. The extra displacement a 2.2 gives isn't that beneficial IMO.

Thanks mate I think this will also help the OP, I think it is also interesting that the good jap stuff also uses 2L.

No point buying a 207 shortblock just to rip the guts out of,
I think sphoolin who has written in this thread has a stripped 207 block.
Private Message him and ask him what the deal is, then buy a 2.2 kit.
this is the cheapest kit i have found:
http://shop.edoperformance.com/coswo...ts-p-9545.html
US$2726 or near on AU$4k. Thats for the forged crank which will be good for 400HP.
The billet crank is dearer.

ok have sourced a 207 now this will just bolt in with my recond heads wont it? i dont need to get any engineering or anything done for it?
if i can get that bought and installed for bout 6 or 7 that would leave me with a bit of money to play around with my brakes mainly then my suspension.
will the stock 4pots hold up ok on the track if i get some slotted rotors? im on stock rims btw not sure how big they are but they arent very big at all

You would want to sort your suspension and braking before taking it out on the track. You wouldn't want to go any bigger than 17" for track work.

Heads will go straight on.
Although, get your mechanic to work out what the compression ratio will be once your heads are on. You may find it'll give you a low compression ratio which means not as much low down power, but you can feed it some serious boost higher up.

and a 98 only has 2 pots unless you've upgraded.

If they say subaru on them, they're the 4 pots. If not, just 2 pots.
subaru 4 pots will fit under your stock rims.

I think there are 2 sets of 4 pots for sale on the forum, if not Japanese Wholesale Spares in Wangara normally have a few sets.

EDIT: this thread has a group buy for some good handling gear.
