was the car in a accident, i'm pretty sure you will have to replace the whole airbag, due to the sensor or someothing, i'm sure someone else will clarify

I believe you will have to replace both the airbags and also the module located either in the middle console underneath all CD players etc. The clock spring will probably need replacing as well if it has one behind the steering wheel.

Not quite sure on repairing. As long as you get the airbag out of the same car then you shouldnt have any dramas.

Might need a scanner to reset the light.

Sounds like someone was attempting a DIY stereo install. How are the ear drums bud?

If it was in a bingle, insurance will sort all that out. If you are not insured be prepared for a bill of thousands just for the airbags to be replaced, let alone any frontal damage...........

Need to replace..

Both airbags
All sensors
Airbag controller (the "ECU" for the airbags).
Dash and steering wheel panels.

You don't have to replace the controller, but non-dodgy people always replace it.

I'm told that this will probably run you around the 5-8k mark if you buy it all from Subaru.

You can not repair airbags NO WAY NO HOW !

You will need to replace as mentioned above

- Bashboard, and purchase related airbag modules;
- Stearing wheel, related airbag and module;
- Relevant sensors
- Also by rights you should replace the stearing column and the seat frames, as well as the seatbelt buckels.

I will be able to help you procure these parts, but it will be on a strict cash and carry deal.

As much as its going to hurt the wallet (which it will regardless of the avenue you undertake), I would suggest that you dont try and source these parts second hand and enlist the installation help of an expert (by law airbags have to be installed by a professional). Not knocking any of the DIY experts here but this is not a project you should undertake yourself (unless of course you are properly equiped with the required knowledge and expertise).

Without looking further into it, I dont know what additional parts you will need and how much it will roughly cost.

I can source parts and would be happy to quote you on whats needed.
