I've replaced my battery as well as disconnecting it for mods etc overnight with no issues like this. Perhaps its only with the newer models, mine's a GC8.

I think it's 03 onwards that have the back up battery.

You DO NOT need the master code to reactivate the keypad...follow the instructions on Post #8 of this thread.

Pre '03 Brants did not have the upgraded battery backup (which holds the code for up to 3 months)...the early backups only held the code for a few hours or less.
There is an instruction in your manual to enable/disable beeps.

sorry to hijack..
is there a way to opent he boot with your key on the GD model??

also my car batt died when i was on holidays for 3 weeks after a quick jump started...had to press 0 i think to make the pad light up den insert the key... and away we go.

GD model 03 and above come with back up battery to prevent this from happening.

Sure is!

Put the key in the key hole and rotate the key about 90 degrees.

Thanks everyone.. As previously mentioned, the actual alarm functions as does the keypad, it just false alarms every so often. I can start the car no worries.

I spoke to Subaru today and they said it would only be $55 to do a master reset so I will take it in next week sometime.

After opening my big mouth and saying how it's never happened to me before, i went to use the rex yesterday arvo to give it a run and the battery was dead flat, not even interior lights.

Connected jumper leads and it wouldn't accept my pin code. Used this as Rexy03 suggested –

Quote:
Resetting The Keypad

This procedure is to be used when the user PIN code will not be accepted by the unit. This procedure requires two people to perform the reset.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal for 5 to 6 minutes
Hold down 0 and # at the same time on the keypad and while holding the buttons down the second person should then reconnect the battery negative lead and tighten the terminal bolt.
Release the 0 and # on the keypad.
Enter 0 four times on the keypad (ie, 0000).
The keypad should now be reset and should accept the user PIN code.

Test by turning the ignition on in the normal manner and when all digits are illuminated enter your PIN code. The keypad should disarm and you should be able to start the engine.
That allowed me to start it and when I shut it off the 1 stayed lit like it was in valet mode, so I pressed the 1 to disengage valet mode and now it won't accept my pin.
Do I have to reset the pin somehow? And if so, does anyone have the instructions for that?

Cheers in advance,
Josh

PS - Where can I buy a good value trickle charger for the rex as I only drive it every month or two now days.
