Default BRANT issue 05 STi

Hi All,

Ever since I reset my ECU by disconnecting the negative terminal, the Brant has decided that it would start doing strange things.
First thing I noticed is that it would false alarm quite frequently, up to once an hour.
Then I noticed that the door open/close beeps stopped.
The alarm still works as normal and the keypad still functions correctly. Anti Hijack mode has been disabled since I bought the car which is something I would like to re-enable.

Now from what I have read there is a reset sequence that may need to be followed - issue is I did not get the little key for my siren.

The alarm has not faulted me once before this - in fact, until now, I wondered what all the bad press about the Brant was..

Can anyone help?

From what i was told by Brant themselves, is that in the event of battery failure Subaru need to input their master-code after the power has been reconnected...so say u were out in the country and for woteva reason your battery died, you couldn't just put a new battery in and continue on your journey, you would need to tow the car to a Subaru workshop and have their master-code entered.

i was the same as you, i had no idea why all the bad press towards Brant, but after my experience with them over the past few weeks i am converted.

As for the anti-hijacking, again, you need to go to Subaru and they can re-activate it for a fee (i was going to have mine re-activated, as it was de-activated when i purchased the car, but didn't see why i should have to pay Subaru to do it, so never bothered in the end, and now a few months later i've ended up having to remove the Brant altogether anyway)

the beeps can be turned off/on by repeatedly unlocking/locking the car with the remote, it freaked me out the first time this happened after locking/unlocking the car when washing it one day

i may be wrong, but this is what i've experienced

my 2c

The beeps can be turned off or on by your remote. I think pressing unlock 5 times in a row turns them on and pressing lock 5 times in a row turns them off.

Ask Your dealer nicely and you may get your cars specific master code.

Tell them you are moving to the Pilbara and will be 400 km from the nearest dealership / service center for extended periods.

Inform them that the possibility of the Brandt disabling the car due to a flat or failed starting battery could be catastrophic & cause the loss of life.

Then mention something about their duty of care.........

WIN!

Forgive me if I have missed something here.... but every time you need a new battery, you have to take your car to Subaru????
(unless implementing the above sneakiness?)

Resetting The Keypad

This procedure is to be used when the user PIN code will not be accepted by the unit. This procedure requires two people to perform the reset.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal for 5 to 6 minutes
Hold down 0 and # at the same time on the keypad and while holding the buttons down the second person should then reconnect the battery negative lead and tighten the terminal bolt.
Release the 0 and # on the keypad.
Enter 0 four times on the keypad (ie, 0000).
The keypad should now be reset and should accept the user PIN code.

Test by turning the ignition on in the normal manner and when all digits are illuminated enter your PIN code. The keypad should disarm and you should be able to start the engine.

I've removed my battery a few times and had no problems with the brant. The GD model brants have a back up battery which should avoid any issues when the main battery is disconnected.

yes without the mastercode you'd be stuck, unless all gd's have back up batts.
