I can get 044's pretty cheap dude, just want to make sure it is the pump thats faulty or whether something is restricting it and making it "scream" as it is.. no use buying one until one is needed!

I've changed my mind 50 times already about whether to change the pump or stick with the 044, but after hearing Rossco's dead silent 044 on Sunday, surely something can be done without me having to change back to a Walbro pump.

How long you in Tassie for? I'm probably not going to be doing this for a couple more weeks anyway (don't have time this week).

Thanks for the offer
Am only away til end of next week. It is as new but not brand new so no issue trying it.

Get in touch if/when you need it.

New bit of info which MAY help my problem.

Rossco, you mentioned that the noise my pump makes sounds like "water hammer".

I mentioned the same thing to Sean @ ASG yesterday, and he said "check the damper valves that go near the fuel filter".

Did a search on these, and their intended purpose is to prevent resonation in the lines.. exactly like water hammer on plumbing pipes!!

Found this..

http://www.rexnet.com.au/forum/index...&#entry1694142

Also, I found information on NASIOC which suggests that if they're mounted incorrectly, they wont work. They need to be mounted upright. I somehow think mine might have been mounted the wrong way after my fuel filter was replaced (which co-incides with me replacing the pump and the noise starting).

Anyway its definitely another area I can check out, so I will be looking at this closely.

When I had my Bug which 97RA owns now the Bosch 044 was as quiet as until you took your foot off the accelerator, then it sounded like something in the back door or a hand brake cable was hammering/rattling/pinging which annoyed the crap out of me. Different cars seem to have different problems with these pumps all the time though they still seem to work but I'll stick to my Walbro's, can't hear mine at all, never let me down and rarely have fuel surge problems unless I have less than 10L in the tank.....it runs a big STI sock though. Maybe time to change.
