They are not illegal.

So long as your exhaust is under the legal limit (92dB ?) it doesn't matter what exhaust you have on there.

see attached for the relevant ADR regarding noise limits on vehicles.

state law take ADR's as a bench mark, then supercede an ADR if necessary.

I dont beleive there are any superceding state legislations for WA.

Has anyone heard about those sensors there planning to put around the place to measure how loud your car is? Not sure if it's on that attached doc. On the iPod so can't check it out yet

I did hear something about dB cameras operating in the eastern states. All hearsay though.

From what I've been told, they have dB meters over east, so they can 'validate' a noisy exhaust test. Could be chinese whispers, could not be...

The test itself is a load of crap, so far away from the exhaust at an angle at a certain % of revs in relation to maximum power. No cop would want to do that on the side of a road.

Alrighty, had a look at the offence that they will ping you for.. Section 69 of vehicle standard regs (making a modification which differs from the manufactures specifications). It's a crappy charge in my opinion and don't agree with it but that's what police are advised to issue infringements for...

Their reason for the yellow is because when open the sound bypasses the resonator... Which is no different to any other cannon??

never really understood that particular rule...isnt noise the same regardless of where it comes from?...what?..a sleeping neighbourhood can will be woken by a rex making 91db but not a truck making 103db?.. whats the reasoning (if any) behind this rule
