My original varex got stuck a couple of times if I left it open for a long time and there was significant soot buildup in the muffler.

Otherwise fine.

Looking at my new one, it seems to be of a slightly different design to stop this happening.

Where did you take your wiring to? The battery or the cigarette lighter?
Mine has never stuck.

The wiring harness in mine had a 15amp fuse, so instead of loading up
the lighter even more (already has radar, GPS, guages, cameras) I wired
it direct to the battery via a relay that hooks across the lighter.

Something to note is that my wiring harness had a dodgy fuse holder
that had intermittent contact problems. Simply cut it out and put
in a new one for a few bucks from jaycar. Problem fixed.

Howcome you're not interested in forking out some extra $$ and going full TBE?

Thx for clearing up about the wiring fobz. I thought it was kind of sketchy running wires along the exhaust especially when the heat from an exhaust could melt the insulation causing for it to short. I assume they run it along the body where it won't get that much heat.

** Edit:
I just called up methams morley to ask for a price for a TBE sytem. The odd thing that came out of that is the fact that they won't actually do the wiring for you and that you'd have to organise that yourself.

Metthams: $1.4k TBE
Prestige: $1.8k TBE (I assume they would do the wiring as they're the official WA X-Force supplier)

Don't run it under the body. Push the wires through the grommet for
your numberplate light or one of the other rubber grommets at the
back.

That way the wire is inside the cabin, then to behind the dash where
the varex control box sits, then wires from that go through firewall
to the battery (via the lighter for a relay to turn it power it all
when the accessories are on)

Cable tie the mufler end so it doesn't touch any of the zorst except for
where is actually connects.

Most places won't do the wiring. Do it yourself. I prefered it that way and the place I had it
installed was thankful that I actually asked them NOT to touch the wiring.
