To hell with it, cheapest boost fix, just weld that worthless damn waste flapper shut!! Then you can save weight and money on all the extra bits the ECU thinks it needs.

ok ross, so iv got the boost control solenoid hooked back up (no more shitty boost tee). i run the stock air box with a silicone air intake and 3" zorst. so stock boost with those minor mods, should that be ok without an after market ecu ? shorly the 16bit ecu has some learning capabilities ?

the stock ecu has some tolerance for environmental influences, thats about it.

practically all modifications unless tuned for with an aftermarket ECU will result in poor fuel economy or potential damage to the engine.

From what I have read here over the years I was under the impression that GC8's can handle breathing mods without a tune, but as you stated stace...bad fuel economy?

yeah, no question a my00 wrx can take a 3" turbo back exhaust, pod/panel filter, resonator removal and a small increase in boost with a bleed valve/boost controller. but at the cost of fuel economy. which eventually clogs catalytic converters, fouls plugs and worst of all contaiminates your oil, at the end of the day it doesnt reallygive you significant gains (maybe only 10-15 hp when its all fresh)
