Guaranteed good.
hey guys,

i am the first to admit when it comes to diffs my knowledge is basic at best, i'm contemplating buying & installing this diff to my WRP10, just seeing what peoples thoughts are on this mod

positivers and negatives, ease of change over etc...

as always all feedback, positive or negative, is considered helpful

Cheers,

To be honest mate, the best feedback you could get would be from Doug who is selling it.
He is a genuine guy who would not risk tarnishing his rep for a few bucks and he obviously knows his stuff as he has fitted a heap of boxes and diffs to fellow members cars, including mine.
Give him a buzz, he's easy to talk to.
For what it's worth my plated diff along side my 6 speed that Doug supplied and fitted have been worth every cent.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure it would be a costly mission to fit that in your car, being an R180.

The standard diff in your WRP10 would be an R160 and from what i understand there's a fair bit involved in converting from R160 to R180, if you're just trying to install an LSD that is.

I'm pretty sure your front diff is 4.11, so that will need to be changed. Which means gearbox out.
Also, you'll need the matching driveshafts and rear hubs to go with it.

Thats me presuming that the WRP10 has wrx running gear, not STi.

i'm stopping in to see Doug in person either tomorrow or Friday to have a chat with him, was just curious what other peoples thoughts are, the more info i can get the better, i've been researching diffs, ratios etc so slowly learning (=

i had a sti R160 2way limited slip diff.
if its a daily, i wouldnt recommend it
2 ways behave like lockers when they are underload (which is in gear, accelerating). so your rear wheels will skip and hop when u turn corners slowly and along with that, they are noisy in operation (thicker oils do somewhat curb the noise)

but they are GREAT fun if you like a tail happy wrx

Bring it in, I'll stick my head under the back and in 2 seconds tell you whether it's a R160 or R180 in there.
If you have a R160, I'd advise you to not go to the expense of changing the whole lot over unless you really want Brembo brakes etc. and a bulletproof diff.

Being a WRP10, there's a good chance it'll already have a 4.44 R180 suretrac so it's literally a 1.5 hr job to swap it with no extra parts.

Don't panic about the noise/ harshness, many Aussie delivered cars have plated diffs and they can be made quite livable with the right choice of oil. Or if you want a no-compromise track weapon with a diff that locks solid, that can be achieved as well with a less slippy oil.

My recomendation to anyone getting a 2 way rear diff... Hit up AHG/RAC skid pan and learn how to drive with it.

You do not want to jump off the throttle if you get a bit sideways through a corner, otherwise prepare to tank slap the other way.

However, 2 way rear diff was the best car mod I ever bought!
