Default Ideas?

Guys,
I'm considering Slotted RDAs for the front, RDAs for the rear with A1RM pads all round.

I intend to skid pan and track plus the usual daily driving.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Cheers,
Joe.

I have no experience with the RDA product. Are they much cheaper than the DBAs?

Default RDAs

Jester,
Ballpark for front slotted is $250 and the rears are $160.
Marfleet are around the corner from work so I just popped in the other day and asked.

They reckon EBC Reds are good pads as well, but the A1RMs seem to get good reviews.

Cheers,
Joe.

I've used RDA slotted on my RS Liberties and my old My98 Wrx......They aren't too bad but remember they are cheap for a reason....They are made from softer material than DBA or Protex discs and won't last as long as either of these.

We use Standard RDA disc's on our used cars and have never had to claim a warranty.

The RDA ventilated rotors are a straight radial vane. I think this lets the heat rejection down a little. They seem to have a documented history of cracking on some serious track sessions. They are pretty darned cheap to pass up for a daily driver. I have these on my Prelude and after a 40 deg day with consecutive skid pan sessions (about 10 runs) turned them a very blue colour and boiled the brakes. On inspection noted a small radial surface crack approx 1cm on the outside rotor face.
Having said that they are still on the car and performing well for daily duty.

If you are serious about tracking the car get something better just for piece of mind. But with a bit of care they seem fine for most general applications.

Thanks guys...
I dont intend to be a track warrior, but I do like to get the best I can afford on the car.
Will the A1RMs chew the RDAs quicker if the rotor material is softer? I'd assume yes but at what rate...

The DBA 4000s would be a better option for sure.
Whats a ballpark for the DBAs?

Cheers,
Joe.

Ive got RDA rotors in combination with A1RMs. They have already eaten in the rotor slightly. I reckon by the time these pads need replacing, the rotors will need to be replaced too. Having said that, on my brembos, its a really good combo.

These are going onto the Brembos on my MY05 STi.
What's the wear on your Brembos like?
Are they the OEM Brembo rotors?

Cheers,
Joe.

Yeah, OEM Brembo. I put both the A1RMs and the RDA rotors on together brand new.

both pad and rotor are worn, I'd estimate around 10%. I can already feel a slight lip developing on the rotor.
