Default Tyres - what's the best option?

At it seems that I'll be taking the car into more and more driving events as time goes on, am I better off getting some tyres better suited for track type activities and then swapping them over on the day? Obviously this would mean I'd need to get some more rims too.

Some questions I have are:

Slicks -
What is the average price I can expect to pay per tyre for decent ones?
Seeing as slicks are not road legal, would that mean having to take them with me and changing them at the event and then changing back before I leave?

Semi-slicks -
Are they any good or an acceptable compromise seeing as they can be used on the street as well? Pros and cons?

Any other options I should consider and the pros and cons of each? Or am I best to just keep using the RE070's and replacing them more frequently?

Thanks.
