Where are those prices from?

The RE55-S SR2 looks alright too as already mentioned - From what i can find street legal also.

Note: R comps have quite a noticeable increase in road noise.

Tino I'd be inclined to have two sets of wheels both with r comps and rotate every 1000k's. Initial outlay is increased but a 600hp car needs all the grip it can get

I think T has enough Alcantara and CF to act as sound deadening to
stop that extra noise coming into the cabin.

From my R-Spec tyre experience:

Best track (track not autokhana) tyre in the dry: Bridgestone RE55...select your compound to suit
Best track tyre in the wet: Dunlop DZ03 M compound (don't know about Yokies as yet)
Best all round tyres(eg Targa): Yokohama A050 and Dunlop DZ03 ...select your compounds to suit
Good all round compromise tyre: Toyo 888
Cheapies which work OK: Silverstone FTZ RR and the new Federal R Spec (not the 595)

No experience with Pirelli or Michelin

hahah Jme..

Theres enough mechanical noises already, a little bit more wont be an issue..

Im waiting on my TE37s to come... There in a GB which we still need 3 ppl. so i dont have a spare set of rims atm..

but when the rims come, they will be fitted with 255/265s and the enkeis will have the r-comps..

I survived for years running R comps as a daily drive having said that I only really used the car on the weekends and occasionally during the week. big downside was that wet roads were always touch and go particulalrly towards the end of the tread life.... Once I got a second set of rims there was no turning back..also getting far more life out of the tyres now!!

I think everyone is different and the best thing is simply to try it out as a DD and you will soon figure out what's best for you.

Hankook have just released an R-comp - Ventus TD (Z221).

Initial reports from Evo land is that they are performing very well and are price competitive compared to Dunlops & Yokies, etc.

I'm not sure if Yokohama owns Hankook, but they look nearly the same as the Advan 050.

Dunno about pricing - haven't bothered to check as I'm running on near new 050's. Advan 050's are ~$570 - but the X runs 265/35/18 without rubbing/scrubbing/rolling

Dunlop DZ03 M's or H's if you are doing track work as you can get the temps up, most progressive, grippy tyre...period just expensive (go the softs if you are doing autokhana but they will wear quickly)

Alao tyre pressures are the most important thing when it comes to getting the best grip and wear from the tyre. All good reps will be able to tell you what to run them at and what the temp fluctuation should be.
