Sometimes car won't start

Hi all.
Sometimes my car won't start. It has the Brant system. Subaru tell me to get rid of the Brant. This morning it started fine went to midland and shopped for a while. It started ok, I then drove for about 3kms and it just cut out. I then started again went 50m and stalled. When i got it started again the engine light stayed on for about 3kms. Has any body got an idea of what i should do.
