The same thing again today at 5pm. Hot day. No start, till 'airing' out the car to cool it down.

This is getting annoying.

Easy fix - resolder the relay solder joints on the brant module curcuit board.
same happen to my my03 three years ago, i did this fix and the brant hasnt played up since, ill get you a link to the diy..................

Thanks for that. Just registered on Rexnet so I can see the pics in the post.

I can't say I would be overly confident doing the soldering.

Are there any forum users that do electrical work and soldering for a crust that would like to help me out with this?

I got a 2004 wrx. Normally around start of summer or during winter my key pad plays up. Lastweeks I had the same prob mate. I went work with my brothers car cos I could not start mine up. I go home afte work and it started up. Try locking it and unclocking once or twice and you prob be able to start it up. It's a common problem with the security alarm o was told by Subaru at one point as well.

+1 for resoilder relay joints on Brant PCB, worked for me.

Give it a go - have a bit of a practice on an old TV or radio or something similar - its really very easy and the Brant module board is not overly complicated
