Default Noisy brakes

My brakes are extremely noisy. I've had them checked several times and have been advised that there is nothing wrong with them. The pads are ceramic (red stuff).

I'm after standard street pads (minimal noise) for 08 sti, any suggestions?

Cheers

Your right there, red stuff are not really designed for road driving, and will be noisy until they heat up to their optimum temp. That wont happen on the street. I think Bendix do a street pad for the STi. Best bet would be to contact a brake and clutch shop, to see whats available. Don't forget you'll need your discs skimmed if your fitting new pads.

I should add, the pads are supposed to have backing plates on them with a special grease that allows them to move a bit and absorbs the vibrations that cause the noise. If these weren't refitted when aftermarket pads were fitted, the only way you can get them is to buy genuine pads. The plates need to be there, but genuine is something like $800.00 a set!

Yeah my brakes are horrible now, I have them squeak while driving without applying any brake at all, and then when i come to a stop the noise is really quite bad, mum heard me coming from the start of the street and thats about 200 meters from the actual house.

Im thinking of replacing all my rotors to aftermarker slotted ones, and new street pads.
Suggestions?

(I think my brake pads are a hard compound, because hard braking makes a metal on metal sound, even though I have almost full pads?)

I had extremely loud ear bleeding brake squeel in my MY05 STi... tried a few things to solve the problem, first I thought it was the brake pads so I changed to bendix SRT (Street Race Track) pads - Which I do not recommend because the squeel only got worse

So then I thought probably rotors, so went and got them machined... solved the problem for a short period of time before squeel started again, finally I decided to get slotted DBA's with Intima pads from S2R - "blommer" on the forums and it sure fixed the noise
