I'd be interested to know how synchronised down shifts occurs.

There are STi's running 350hp+ on the stock ECU...?

There are cars running 1000hp on motecs. I dont see the point. The skys the limit but your money, your car and depends what aspirations are. MAP sensor is a much better setup.

Didnt the last engine blow up with an Ecutek, or am i mislead? Seems odd that the rings failed on such a new engine. Manufacturer fault? Or too much combustion? How were the rings damaged? Cracked? Scuffed? Getting blow-by?

I'm not saying it's impossible. You can bolt on an 80mm MAF housing and a huge turbo and make decent power, but you lose resolution in the MAF scaling at lower flow rates and then drivability suffers. That is usually the point when speed density becomes a good idea.

i think from memory Steve said the rings were cracked, most probably cause from the car overboosting, not to pissed off, i wanted to build the bottom end anyway and this just gave me an excuse to do it

You can tune ecutek by MAP.. i had it on my own car..

Ecutek is fine for making power i.e 350 hp atw as thats what i was running with my FPgreen.. the only thing i didnt like was the constant reflashing which would evenutally render the ecu useless.. Considering i was changing tunes like my underpants thought wisely to go MoTeC

Overboosting is proberley because of the way it was tuned (too high), or irregular boost control. Would a 3port Mac Valve be a wise choice in this setup, to regulate and control your boost a little more?
