Default Brake Squeal Only In Reverse - Any Thoughts?

Hi guys, my car is giving out a loud sharp squeal only in reverse (when coming out of driveway or parking lot etc). Any thoughts? The car is MY11 STI.

Thanks in advance.

Joel

Not sure about that, only took the delivery last week so it shouldn't be the case. Probably the last thing I want to do is bring it back after a week. Anyone encounter this before?

Sorry mate crystal ball is cloudy seeing as no one would know how many km your pads have done except you.

They're probably not even bedded in properly yet (about 500km), take it out and get them hot to burn some resin out of the green pads & see if the noise disappears.

My stepdad had the same problem when he took delivery of his my10 WRX, the issue was the rear calliper(s) sticking to the disc due to being engaged for a month straight before the brakes where even worn in..

I'm with Rossco, take it for a nice long run with plenty of braking and see if that helps. maybe a run up/down the coast???

1. open boot
2. remove duct tape from her mouth
3. shove a sock into her mouth
4. reapply duct tape

problem solved

Ditto to Rossco's suggestion.

I have had similar issues (MY02 WRX).

Do you brake hard? After taking mine in it was suggested I was braking too hard (going forward). Pads had a lip on them. Once scimmed they were fine. Doubt that would be the case with yours if it was in the workshop only a week ago.

Good luck.

This could be a possibility because I picked up an ex-demo. There is 3ks on the clock unless they changed a new pad before the delivery, which is doubtful. I'll drop them a line tomorrow and check if it's an "abused" or new pad which require bedding. Thanks for the input.
