its just an open deck late motor around 97> 99/ 00

The heads will be ok should they clean up and have no cracks. Just buy a 207 bottom end, decent number 12 oil pump 60" metal head gaskets , some ARP head studs & re assemble.

Cheers guys ,
Have not split the case as yet need to get my hands on a deap socket 23mm an a 14mm
But when I do will post pics of the crank ,
Just a noob question what's the deal with open deck semi closed deck and closed deck ?
And why do I need a ej207 bottem end ? Don't I have a ej207 ?
I am hopeing to do a similar build to Rossco , keeping the crank and forging the rods and pistons , cams ect
The end goal is 450+ at the fly wheel .

You do have a 207! Well your spare donor motor is anyway.

Keep in mind that with the open deck block that you have you won't want to go more the 20 thou oversize on the pistons to keep the cylinder walls nice & strong to run decent boost of up to 25 psi.

As long as the crank isn't too badly scored from the bearing failure it's all win!

Cheers guys
All very helpfull advise
The original ej205 motor has the bottem end damage and I have not touch that
The ej207 ( donor motor ) is the one I have pulled apart down to the block , it has no bottem end damage so the crank should be fine the only problem was the low compression
Which I think is because of the rings , the bores seem fine no score marks and you can still see the original factory hone marks will up load pics tomorrow ,
So if the bores are fine do I still need to bore them out ?
Or can I just slap some forgies in and away I go ?
What safe hp could an open deck ej207 forged engin handle ?
Thanks all for your help , sorry if these questions seem highly noobish lol

May still need to go first oversize in pistons depending on cylinder 'roundness', a torque plate hone is required at a minimum to allow whatever new rings you get bed in properly.

Those HF2 slugs are proper STI forgies, as is the crank.
You don't need a 12mm oil pump, you want the new design 11mm one.

350hp at the crank would be a happy number for it.

Cheer rossco
Thats the plan i have cleaned and honed the block ,
just waiting on parts , rings, gasket kit bearings .
the engine will be the ej207 short with the ej205 heads .
just to get me back on the road while i build something fun .

only because i damaged the cams on the ej207 heads , and i scored a closed deck block for $100 , so after much dicussion with neil .
the heads will be ported decked and rebuilt with cams .
the block resleved and so on and so on . havent really decided how far i am going with it yet depends on the $$$

rossco i notice you use i power fc any comments on it .
before i might go straight to a sm4 autronic ?
cheers ?
