Fuel pump too?
I have those mods on my V6. Good fun. Not bad on fuel if you drive like a Nana. I think vf34 are good to 300hp (safely) Get it done. Good start to modding.

The turbo itself is slightly laggy, but bearable, but comes on boost hard. |

I am currently running a VF35 with a V6 STi ecu in a 2000 MY00 WRX.
I also have TBE, CAI and larger fuel pump. Runs really well.

Like others have said, it's a very, very common upgrade. Do some research, read up about the pro's and con's and have a think about what you want. Are you actually unhappy with the current level of power? If ain't broke, don't fix it.
Have a look at this thread, it gives a brief description of all of the commonly fitted turbo's to WRX's along with info as to approximate power to expect, whether any modifications are required and when you can expect to achieve full boost. Also remember that it is an american site and some of the turbo's are specific to the USDM. And have a read of this thread to give you a basic understanding of most other types of modifications which will answer most of your questions. Again, this is USDM oriented, so be careful.

Thanks for all the information.
One last thing i would like to know, if you get a computer out of any subaru (sti gc8's) for instance, when you plug that computer in and then use your own computer for diagnostics etc does it show the ecu model?. If the ID is missing from the ecu is that the only way to tell what it is exactly? |

i had my vf34 running at 20 psi felt like max pressure for turbo after a year it didnt sound like new at all anymore, 1400 is good price up pipe aswell? 1400 is the high end price can get just turbo cheaper. i had all the mods 880cc jets 500hp feul pump top notch front mount custom made APEXI comp made 260 and 360nm on a solid deck 94 motor get the p20 rear housing the p18 u can feel it die at the end of ur revs, its annoying. if the ecu plugs in shouild be fine but if ur doin upgrades spend the 1k get an apexi and hand controller, great gains and u can monitor everything from digial readings if u mount it behind ur steering wheel. looks flash too

^^^ These turbos all bolt on. And I mean everything bolts straight on, not like a lot of TD based E-Bay turbos that have imperial threads, water pipes the wrong side or not supplied, bigger inlets, hit the engine, don't come with a drain tube etc. |

Quick question. By changing the ECU, do you lose the Immobilizer ie an after market one is required?

Also think it's important to note as discussed only a jap spec ecu is compatible with our aus spec rexes.
