Default Rocker Cover Gasket

Hey Everyone,

The rocker cover gasket on the drivers side has started to weep oil.

Question.
Is this something i could change (both) in a day?

Is it a hard thing to do?

i need to do an oil change on the car anyways, but is there anything else prown to go at this point, age wise? the engine has done 161k kms.

Are the gaskets especially expensive? Am i better to go genuine or aftermarket replacements?

i have access to a hoist im hoping to borrow for a day.

cheers
Dave :-D

Rocker covers are just hard to get to. Best to google up a diy. I got mine at dealership it was around 100 from memory including the spark plug gaskets. Aftermarket ones I looked at look like shit quality.

If you did the 150k service you should be fine at 160k. Oil, filter, fuel cleaner and upper engine cleaner.

You can buy the genuine seals from Veale and from memory it was around $80 a side. Tight spot to get to but do-able for DIY.

easy to do

use genuine parts
you will need the rocker cover gasket, spark plug seals plus new washers for the bolts

can be done in an hour or so

good idea to cover your exhaust with rags to stop oil getting in the heat sheilds which causes burning oil smell and smoke for a while

Very easy to do, either just get to 6 10 mm bolts from the top or bottom or if you want get under neith, loosen off the engine mount and gently jack to motor up so you can acces them

If jacking the motor, don't put the jack under the sump.
