I work in the parts industry and have never seen this style of globe before...Subaru wants $11ea for these globes and only have 2 in the country, and I need 3
 So I have to wait til next week for the globes to come in and if they works I'll get the other from Japan.

From factory no, the only wrx gauges that come white are gc8 sti I'm pretty sure other than that 01-02 are grey ish back ground yellow needle and anything after that is red defi style

Well, i took it apart and they white covers have 3 wires coming out of them....I peeled them back a little and you can see another set of dial behind them, so I poked a lil LED pen light through where the globes go through and they light up!
So the white dials are connected to wires (separately) which run into the steering column loom and this looks factory and untouched. BUT...there is a 4th connector plug which isn't plugged into anything that is just after where the 3 wires are connected off the dials and because of the tight and anal spot its in I can seam to find any connection for this. I got a feeling this is where my problem is! arrggg

I think you have an after market dial cover which when connected properly can change colors. If its what I'm thinking of there should be a control unit somewhere if not just peel it of. By peeling it off You should get the standard lights back. Post a picture if you can

I cant see it being after market as the car is completely stock and had no aftermarket bits what so ever...why would someone modify the dash before anything else seems rediculous...
I think its factory and i reckon someone has knocked out the plug when installing the shitty old school imobiliser.. Ill take some pics when/if i take it out again
