What spring rates are you running?
Hey guys, I'm looking at getting some coilovers fitted soon, but unsure what spring rates would be best? What are u running and what r your thoughts?
I have a lightly modded bugeye which I plan on lowering 30mm from stock. I want it to handle better with less 'roly poly' but not 'crash' over bumps in road. I will also look at other suspension mods including polyurathane bushes and bigger swaybars down the line. If I bought the coilovers myself, who would be the best ppl to fit them for me (want wheel alignment done)? Cheers! |

Fitted my HSD's by myself... it took me 2 hours to get it to a drivable set-up. Then drove it to STechnic and got the alignment done.
Save yourself some $$$ and put them in yourself, because your not going to do any damage driving <50KM unaligned. (so make sure your camber and toe isn't rediculious when you go to drive it, and if it is dial a little less in) But if your not DIY most workshops (EVO R, STechnic, MSS, ASG) should be able to fit and align.)

Ive swapped suspension over b4, kinda happy to pay someone to do it for me tho.
Thought some of the shops would not want to fit suspension for u unless u bought it through them direct. Spring rates in ur HSD's? ps. great point made in ur sig . . . |

And some workshops are a bit "iffy" when it comes to installing parts you have got from an external company. But before I did it myself both Mao(EVO R) and STechnic said they would do it.

very easy to fit, normally only 5 bolts, 2-3 14mm on top of the strut then 2 19mm bolts on the hub. if i were you i would try and set the coilovers to an even hight when installing them(less messing around later). Also when installing make sure you push the hub inwards to run negative camber untill you get a wheel alignment.
normally a good spring rate is around 8-9kgs. i had 10kgs front and rear on my silvia. that was a drift car so it was very stiff. if your car is a daily driver and only raced every now and then 8-9kgs will be fine. you should also look into getting some sway bars aswell
