plates sticking? - have you installed twin plate clutch

who supplied the clutch kit?
nope, exedy stage 1 single plate organic.
the mechanic supplied it himself. well, if it doesn't go away after christmas i will go back. I am just interested in what the actual problem is, whether it was a bad install, a faulty clutch or something else in system.

got a pretty well known mechanic to fit it and yes, i am thinking the shuddering is due to the new clutch and I am just not used to having a heavier clutch.

now I have a feeling that my problem with not being able to shift out or into gears is simply air in the clutch line. whenever i am lock into gear or lock out of a gear, I can just pump the clutch a few times and it releases itself. does it sound like air in the clutch line?

your on the money mate

pumping the pedal and you get more travel means air in the system

two problems you may have
1 - your so called mechanic didnt bleed the system properly in the beginning
or
2 - your master cylinder is sucking air into the system in which your so called mechanic should advised you at the time to replace both in which would have solved the problem straight away

just my opinion hence why your on the forum

Won't hurt you to bleed the line a bit more and see if it fixed it. Could be on the right track.

Alright, just an update.

The shudder is getting much better, either because I have been slipping it so much it has bedded in or I am becoming a better driver. Hopefully it is the later.

Took it back to the mechanic and all hydraulics are working fine. Pedal isn't spongy and it engages in the middle. Was given an explanation about plates sticking, not disengaging properly and it should get better after a while. (didn't understand a word since I am mechanically challenged) Worst case scenario, he will replace it if the clutch is the culprit.
Anyway, i realised the problem exist mostly if I try to shift out of the first gear above 3000rev and after the car has been warmed up (not consistent as it works perfectly fine sometimes). I also have problem shifting from neutral to first and I am currently getting around it by slipping into second gear before I go into first (is that a common problem). It feels like the gearbox is the culprit but I never had any problem before the new clutch and the incident with the old clutch (bearing broke and one of the ball flew out).
Anyone has any idea?
