Its running at 239 hp (that's plenty) at the wheels which does not seem alot at all to me!!

it already had be tuned

Also the turbo does not punch when it comes in now and when it does the boost solenoid ticks so loud. I cannot hear the turbo anymore either (maybe loud exhaust) . I dobt think they raised the boost at all, what is a safe boost level for them to raise it to?

its aftermarket......... tick tick boom

Can someone give me there opinion on this matter?

Thanks

You could ask your tuner to delay power and make artificial lag so then you can have your punch back. This however would be a waste of a tune and defeat the purpose of tuning it to go faster... Want more punch from the WRX you will need a bigger turbo.

If you wanted a real punch should have got a skyline (of the RB25 variety) and then put a GT30 / GT35 turbine with plenty of Greenpeace external gate. This will achieve both being fast and punching you in the kidney's while sitting on limiter on the way to the shops.

239 is not enough when i have spent over 1500 for a full exhaust and over 1500 for the tune and installing exhaust. There is other guys who had 239 before doing anything?

Sorry for my incorrect grammar I wrote the original quote after a few beers last night!

As far as tick tick boom goes what does that mean?

my 2c.. just wait until you've had a proper chat with the tuner on monday. tell them your issues and frustrations... maybe they can adjust the tune.

tuners know that it's in their interest to keep their customers happy, otherwise they get bad rep on forums etc.

Well 239HP is just a number, as I said before all dyno's are different. One you will make 240HP, the next 258HP, the next 232HP, etc.

I have seen a VE Maloo make little over 250KW with a tune and exhaust, and he had the dyno sheet from another shop which said 270KW.

Also consider you had your car tuned in summer... that won't help numbers either, the higher ambient air temp kills HP and doesn't help with heatsoak.

You need to hit the drags and see what ET and MPH you get. This is a real measure of performance.

Who are the "other guys" with MY11 STi's who had 239hp before even doing anything? Did they do a dyno run before the modifications to see what they were putting out stock? I doubt it. Sounds to me you've got factory figures in mind which are actually flywheel numbers, not at the hubs.

Also, some cars are just spuds. I can attest to that with my '08. Other owners with 08's with the same mods as me were getting 10-20hp more than my car on the same dyno, by the same tuner. Some were running 18/19psi but the maximum boost my car would safely take was 16.7psi. Not every car is the same nor will react the same as others after modifications and tune.

You might just be driving a potato unfortunately.

Hey Mate,

You may find that the aftermarket Boost solenoid works better than the factory one so your not getting the thing staying shut and flying open at the desired boost level.

as for smooth power delivery, that's mint I had my 09 Ecutek Tuned at Maximums, thought it was no change until I went and did some track work.

masses of horsepower down low might not be what its been tuned for, you might be getting a progressive map for top end speed or whatever the tuners "flavour" is.

If you want punch...buy a two stroke motorbike.

my 2 cents

Cars not a potato its just after a tune and a tbe i would of expected to see some sort of difference, to get the car back and it feels less aggressive than it was before and this is what has obviously made me ask the initial questions.

I dont have factory numbers in my mind i am simply asking what would people expect to get out of a similar car with the mods that I have done. Or what are other people experiences after similar mods on a similar car

I have the same mods as you on a 2010 sti. Was your turbo heat shield replaced after the TBE was fitted?

This was the cause of the loud ticking after mine was done.
