Default Just Purchased used car and noticed a few things...

The dealer told me when I drove it off the lot yesterday that he is happy to work around any concerns I have if they should arise but I need some advice first. I have noticed a few mechanical things with the car in the three times I have driven it:

First, the Rpms drop by a hair for a fraction of a second randomly and sporadically while idling (O2 maybe)?

Second, today after driving for about 10 minutes, I went to get on it (Accelerate) while in second gear and it hesitated twice during fast acceleration (throughout the one acceleration). Today is colder then when I test drove it last, but any thoughts? Maybe also O2 or fuel injectors?

Lastly, I noticed a couple times a slight burny smell when i turn it off and park it after its run a while. It just had a oil and filter change yesterday morning (not sure if that matters). Thoughts?

Any help is much appreciated friends!

burny oil smell will be from some renegeade oil floating around from the change

the other issues take it back to the dealer, keep in mind the stat warrenty on vehicles they will try and fuck you over on.

Is it a burny oil/rubber smell? How many kms the car done?

Slight burny smell could be the rocker covers dripping some oil onto the exhaust/other parts which then results in burny oil smell... you could be due for a rocker cover gasket change soon.
If you look on each side of the engine and the bottom tray you should see oily residue. Its not a big worry but get it checked by a subaru specialist who can tell you if they need changing asap or if you can wait a few months. If they're leaking too much means you're losing engine oil and that's not good, so get the gaskets changed.

Thanks guys. Thoughts on a shop to check it out at? I've heard MMS is one option, which ones do you guys use? Also, thoughts on the RPM bit?

Take it to Doug at stechnic to get checked at the very least. You will be entitled to a 3 months stat warranty from the dealership but it'd be good to go back to the dealership armed with some knowledge.

STechnic or MMS are options, or if too far, a reputable subaru dealer like Subaru Osborne Park.

Hunting at idle (the dropping of revs)... air flow meter.

Just be careful on taking it to another mechanic whilst you're in the 3 month warranty period, because the seller will argue that another person has fcked with it and fcked it. Then its a civil legal issue and aint nobody got time for that.

It staggers me the amount of people who purchase a car then get it checked. Does not compute.

The issues didn't come up in a test drive and my mechanic (along with two others) were booked out for the next few weeks. Hence why I either had to go with it or let the car go. These aren't major issues I hope but I did what I could. Also the car comes with a warranty and I purchased an extended one so its not a huge drama I hope.

Good point on the dealer bit, I will contact the dealer first. Also, I called STechnic and they have a 2 week wait and MMS has a 3 week wait. I am booking in with STechnic because I am interested in getting a tune and a EBC in the near future and want to make sure the car is square before then. I will see what the dealer says. Thanks all.
